Bootlegger Bay Rum is an old-school bay rum aftershave that takes the formula seriously.
The base is barrel-aged perfumer's alcohol. The bay and orange oils are made in-house. Tobacco absolute is worked into the heart notes to deepen a scent that's traditionally fleeting. The hydrosol comes from the water left behind during oil extraction, carrying fragrance molecules that would otherwise be lost.
The result is a bay rum with depth and staying power without losing what makes bay rum good. The citrus is real. The spice is real. The smoke from the tobacco underneath makes it more interesting than any bay rum has a right to be.
The packaging puts you in 1920. Paper-wrapped glass bottle, hand-corked, straw-tied with sisal the way bottles were actually shipped in that era. A corkscrew is required to open it. One extra cork is included to reseal.
